Can you help me determine a possible cause of the following? Last night while washing my face and standing perfectly still, I started to feel a deep burning, tingling sensation in my big toe. Upon examining it, I could find no reason. I thought perhaps I had been bitten or stung or stepped on something sharp as the sensation had come on so strongly and quickly. The fleshy part of the toe swelled and my toe tingled and felt hot. By morning the sides of my toe were black and blue but the pain and tingling stopped and my toe feels pretty normal now except it looks horrible. Why did this happen? Do I need to seek care?
