Oh ... Yes, I ice and elevate it whenever it is swollen ... and your doctor probably mentioned that ibuprophen (if you're not on meds that react badly with it) will help with swelling ...

Do NOT use heat on swelling, btw ... just in case you didn't already realize that ... and elevation needs to be above your heart to do any good ... footstools or lying on the couch are not enough ...
