If you have healed and the skin is normal looking and still have pain, then it should be looked at.

If you are still healing, then keeping it covered and protected is the right thing to do. Just because the skin looks white and mushy does not mean it is infected, it is moisture in the tissue.

If you are wearing shoes that seem to aggrevate this, change your shoes, at least for now. Try sandals if your job allows.
