Re: fractured fifth metatarsal not healing

I would really need to see the x-rays in order to formulate an opinion.

But here are some general thoughts: if this is a Jones fracture, there is a small chance it will heal. Surgery is often done for this. If this is a non-displaced fracture of the base of the 5th metatarsal, then give it more time. See if a bone stimulator is an option. Don't hold your breath hoping the insurance company will pay so quick. If the fracture is displaced then surgery might be indicated.

You might want to get a second opinion from someone who can see your foot and the x-rays. Please request copies well in advance. The original x-rays stay with the doctor.

The Active Ankle offers flexibility and security. It will feel different from anything you have ever worn for ankle protection. The hinge allows freedom of motion that you may not be accustomed to. Do not mistake this freedom of movement for lack of support. A leading university said, the Active Ankle provides more support (inversion) than the leading air-stirrup brace, the leading lace-up brace, or a tape job.
