Pain after Morton's Neuroma surgery

About four weeks ago I had surgery for Morton's Neuroma on my left foot. The section of the nerve was removed and I thought all would be well. However I am experiencing pain when I press down on my foot from the area of where the nerve was remved to the left side of the tip of the fourth toe. This is the side that is not innervated by the affected nerve. Do you have any idea what could be causing this? My DPM says it may be scar tissue that hasn't resolved. I thought my pain would be over.
