5th metarsal broken - more bruising

Just over a week ago I twisted my foot and broke the 5th metatarsal. In ER and at the fracture clinic I was given a postop shoe and crutches. I was told the bone was broken but was not out of place - and to rest, raise foot and ice for 15 minutes every 2 hours.

I have mostly used the postop shoe and have walked on the heel of my foot for this time period. In the last couple of days the bruising seems to have increased among the forefront of my foot and is extending up to the toes. Is this normal? Being the weekend, I am now concerned - and likely can't reach the doctor until Monday unless I go to emergency. Is this of concern? It also now seems like the foot seems tighter and almost like there is increased tingling, tightness sensation?

The Active Ankle offers flexibility and security. It will feel different from anything you have ever worn for ankle protection. The hinge allows freedom of motion that you may not be accustomed to. Do not mistake this freedom of movement for lack of support. A leading university said, the Active Ankle provides more support (inversion) than the leading air-stirrup brace, the leading lace-up brace, or a tape job.
