Ankle Instability - Ankle Reconstruction

I am considering Ankle Ligament Reconstruction that I have been putting off for 5 years. Can any readers who have done this give me your experiences? Was it worth the pain, cost, time in cast and on crutches, PT -- thanks in advance. I can't go a week without turning it.
