Swollen feet

This morning, after I showered, I helped my wife clean off our balcony. She has several different flowers growing in troughs along the railing. A purple looking flower is beginning to die and some of the flowers have fallen. I was barefooted at time I was cleaing. This was about 9 a.m. As the day progressed, I noticed a feeling under my feet that as tough I was walking on small somewhat soft balls. Tonight, about 9 p.m., we noticed that my feet are quite swollen. With my foot barely touch the floor, my toes no longer touch the ground and the area below my ankles on the insides of my feet are swollen. I've washed my feet in hopes this will help. What do you advise?
