Pain in 4th Metatarsal Head after Great Toe fusion
About 10 years ago I had a great toe fusion after a crush injury. Another surgery about 2 yrs after that to fix the original surgery, they tried to take some of the pronuciation (pronation whatever the word is) off of the top of the fusion. I also have pes planus. Over the years I have put up with a great deal of pain. I have just learned I must not walk a lot or I have pain. I wear Rockports and was made insoles for my shoes. The pain on my 4th metatarsal has been slowly progressing over the years, I shave off the callus and there is only a callus in that spot on the "bad foot" and not on the good one. I can feel my bones and the 4th metarsal is huge compared to the others in that foot. It gets so painful that it feels like I am walking on pure bone with no padding. When this happens I start walking on the side of my foot causing ankle, knee and hip pain. My question is this related to the fusion? And what is this spot is a bone growth etc..? And what can be done? Thank you for any information you can give me. Andrea
