sublexing subtalar joints/valgus deformity of the foot

My son, age 12, suffers chronic pain in both feet. If participating in physical activity, he also experiences pain in his knees, hips, and lower back. I took him to see a highly experienced and recommended podiatrist. His diagnoses was sublexing subtalar joints and valgus deformity of the foot. He would like to do subtalar implants. My insurance co. is saying "no". What do you think of this procedure? Do you know of an alternative if I can't get them to see things my way?
