Sometimes when I am not quite sure if the neuroma is in the 2nd or 3rd interspace, I will do a diagnostic injection with a small amount of local anesthetic. The I have the patient walk or try to recreate their pain. If it is gone, then I know where the neuroma is.

As far as peripheral neuropathy goes, I have seen it in spotty area, I have seen it on the top and bottom of the feet, and I have seen it on one side or the other.

The sclerosing which it is stated in the literature that it is quite successful, can vary from doctor to doctor.
